DMHS87 Yahoo Group

The Del Mar High School Class of 1987 (DMHS87) Yahoo! Group enables us to send messages to each other and share contact information, pictures, links, files, and more for free.

Here below are instructions to join and use the Yahoo! Group.

Join the group:

  1. Go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/DMHS87
  2. Click the upper right corner button that says "Join This Group!"
  3. Follow instructions from there to complete the request.
  4. Once you have completed the request, your request will be put into a queue for approval by a group moderator.
  5. Once a moderator approves your request, you will receive notification of your membership in the group.
Set marketing preferences:

  1. By default, Yahoo! will send you advertisements.
  2. Set your marketing preferences to avoid advertisements from Yahoo!
Go to http://login.yahoo.com/ and sign in.
  3. At http://my.yahoo.com/, click "My Account" at the top of the page.
  4. At the account info page, click "Edit your marketing preferences".
  5. Select your marketing preferences, then click "Save Changes" at the bottom of the page.
Send an introductory email to everyone in the group:

  1. Once you are a member of the group, you can send an email to everyone in the group letting them know you joined the group by sending an email to the address DMHS87@yahoogroups.com
  2. When replying to emails that you receive from DMHS87@yahoogroups.com, note that by default you will be replying to the same address, which means that everyone in the group will receive your reply, not just the sender of the original email to which you are replying.
  3. Emails are not moderated. This means that once you hit send, your email will usually be immediately sent to all members of the group. Your email does not go into a queue for approval by a moderator unless Yahoo! automatically flags your email as spam for some reason, in which case a moderator must release your email.

Help find missing alumni:

The service classmates.com currently has more class of 1987 alumni registered there than any other service, including the DMHS87 Yahoo! Group. Therefore, to reach the largest number of alumni, we use it as the primary location for reunion invitation announcements and RSVPs. Some alumni which are shown in the 1987 yearbook are not listed on the active list of 1987 alumni on classmates.com. These alumni are on the missing classmates list. We need your help finding these missing alumni, and encouraging these alumni to join both classmates.com and this Yahoo! Group. Alumni are not removed from the missing list until they are shown as active on classmates.com. The list of missing alumni is only accessible to Yahoo! Group members.

  1. Go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/DMHS87/
  2. Click "Database" on the left side of the page.
  3. Click "Missing List".
  4. By default, the list is sorted by first name. If you'd like, click "Last Name" to sort by last name.
  5. If you notice that a name on the missing list is actually active in classmates.com, then please click the "Delete" link for that record since the person is no longer missing.
  6. If you attempt to contact one of these alumni, please note your efforts by clicking the "edit" link and filling in the status field with a note such as "Rick Upton 5/10: Left message on voicemail to check del-mar-high-1987.blogspot.com" or "Rick Upton 5/10: Sent reunion information via email." This will let others know that some action is being taken for this alumni, so that their efforts can be focused on other missing alumni.
  7. To find missing alumni using the Internet, there are a number of resources listed at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/DMHS87/links
